Equipment

In addition to being an engaging place for students and faculty to explore science and the human-nature connection, the Nature Lab offers a wide range of specialized equipment and tools that allow for research and documentation of natural materials, specimens, systems and processes.

While our microscopy, computing, specialized lighting and other equipment are available for use in the Lab only, students are welcome to check out a number of devices for field research, including still and video cameras, audio equipment, GPS trackers, and a variety of field gear.

To sign up for individual training, book time on a piece of equipment, or reserve a full class visit to the Imaging Lab (rm 12), please use the Imaging Lab Use Form. For individuals, requests must be made at least 24hrs ahead of requested date. For classes, requests must be made one week prior to the requested date. Reservations will be confirmed by a Nature Lab staff member via email.

Find check-out procedures for selected equipment here.

Visit our Image Galleries on Flickr and our Digital 3D Specimen Library on Sketchfab to see how our equipment allows us to capture, visualize, and explore nature.
